Two Conservatory Warm Roof Conversions in Redditch
Two tired conservatories in Redditch — one with a perished Decca sheet roof, the other an old lean-to — transformed into comfortable all-year-round living spaces with fully insulated warm roofs, finished in synthetic slate with genuine Velux roof windows.
Project Overview
- Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
- Service: Conservatory Roof Conversion
- Property: Detached house with conservatory
- Roof type: Insulated warm roof (solid conservatory roof)
- Materials: Engineered timber roof structure, OSB decking, Water-resistant breathable membrane, Multi-layer insulation, Synthetic slate fixed with copper nails, Genuine Velux roof window, uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering
- Duration: 5 days each
The Roofing Problem
Both conservatories had the same story: too hot to use in summer and freezing cold through the winter, making them impractical for most of the year. One had a Decca sheet roof with a worn, perished surface coating; the other was an old lean-to whose roof had reached the end of its life. Both sets of homeowners wanted a proper room they could enjoy all year round without the expense of a full extension.
Our Inspection and Findings
- Decca roof sheets with a worn and perished surface coating (first conservatory)
- Old lean-to roof at the end of its serviceable life (second conservatory)
- Badly installed lead cover flashings
- Leaking guttering

Recommended Roofing Solution
For both properties we recommended the same proven fix: a full warm roof conversion. That means removing the existing conservatory roof and replacing it with a fully insulated, tiled solid roof system, finished in synthetic slate to complement each property, with a genuine Velux roof window to keep the space bright.

Before and After

The Completed Result
Both conservatories are now genuine extra rooms — warm in winter, cool in summer and usable every day of the year. The synthetic slate finish and Velux windows give each the look of a purpose-built extension, and the insulated roofs help cut heat loss and energy bills.
